Bukit Tabur

I used to go hiking very regularly.

It's not that I particularly enjoyed it; I just wanted to bring my daughters up so they could have more interesting memories. So once a week while my wife was at church on Sunday morning, I would bring my daughters up to a hill in Sri Bintang along with my parents who could help me to carry them when needed.

And then I started seeing my friend's pictures who started going up Bukit Tabur at least once a week and they looked breathtaking. When I found out that the location was only a 20 minute drive away, I knew I had to go.

I wasn't disappointed.

I decided to go on the East side for my first experience. The hike itself is pretty short; depending on your speed, it can take 20 minutes to an hour to get to the top.

It was also made more interesting when there were sections where some rock climbing aided by ropes was required, where the added challenge was rather fun.

For those intending to go up and who have heard that there are injuries and deaths which occur, I think the main question to ask is whether you are comfortable with the rock climbing portions. If you are, then it's really not an issue as well.

And the view from the top truly is amazing. I'll definitely be back for more.
