First trimester

Today marks the end of the first trimester for the wife's pregnancy.

Phew.

It's been an interesting few months with so many happenings, both happy and sad, getting used to the transition of seeing her deal with hormonal and bodily changes, as well as constant nausea from morning to night (they should really not be calling it morning sickness).

And at the same time, the risks start dropping significantly once the first three months have passed. It has been a clean bill of health so far with a very active baby, as you might have seen from the video posted earlier and normal development of all the various areas, which can be observed through the ultrasound.

It's hard to describe the feeling of seeing your child actively kicking and punching on the ultrasound video, and then hearing the fast heartbeat through the machine. I felt like crying and at the same time jumping up and clicking both my heels together while shouting for joy...OK, it doesn't look good once you picture it.

But it's amazing. And it's a miracle to see that new life slowly growing in her tummy...Wow, I'm gonna be a daddy. It still hasn't really hit me yet.

We've subscribed to this weekly newsletter from babycenter.com which I highly recommend to parents-to-be because the weekly updates make my heart go all mushy like tofu...

Here's a snippet from Week 14: "Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another."

Yes! I hope my baby's learning all those facial expressions even as he will be learning how to tell jokes from his dad... :P The world will be subjected to more torture across generations.

Muuuaahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaa!
